Sheerwater entertain Hampshire based league counterparts Alton at the Eastwood Centre, GU21 5RF. Kick off is 3pm in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier South.
TEAM NEWS
New signing Matt Stockill is sidelined for a few weeks with a cut on his shin.
Will Frank is out through a hamstring problem for at least a couple of weeks while Alfie Gibbons is expected to miss Saturday's game with a groin strain.
SHEERS PREVIEW
Last week Sheerwater were in Isuzu FA Vase action. The Sheers were cruelly beaten on penalties by Brimscombe & Thrupp after a late penalty took the game to a nervy penalty shoot-out. It was again a message from the dugout of clinical finishing proving to be the thing that separates us and our last few opponents.
The Sheers have played just three league games in the new 2022/23 season, finding just one win and recording two defeats since the league season started in August. This includes 4-0 and 2-1 defeats to Raynes Park Vale and Redhill, respectively.
OUR OPPOSITION
Alton have had a mixed start to the new season, with just 1 win from their opening 6 league games, coming last weekend in a 2-1 victory at home to Horley Town, alongside their cup defeats.
Last season, Alton concluded the 2021/22 campaign in 10th position in the 22 team Wessex League Premier Division.
Earlier this season, Baffins Milton Rovers were triumphant in a 4-1 win over Saturday's visitors, in the Extra Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup.
In August 2022, the Hampshire club exited the Isuzu FA Vase at the 1st Qualifying Round stage.
