FORM

Farnham Town will look to maintain their winning momentum and seek to record their third consecutive win, going into this one.

Today's hosts scored four second half goals at Guildford Spectrum two weeks ago, in a high-scoring 6-2 league win away to Guildford City. Farnham man Connor Young came off the bench to net twice late on.

Previous to this, they held Jersey Bulls to a point-apiece on the opening day of the 2022/23 league campaign back in August, coming from behind after Jersey's Sol Solomon fired the visiting island side into a 24th minute lead before Farnham's Owen Dean equalised 10 minutes into the second half.

Farnham Last 5 League: L-L-L-W-W

Sheerwater Last 5 League: D-L-D-L-L

Games have come thick and fast in October for a rebuilt, fresh faced Sheerwater side, this season. We have recorded two high-scoring defeats; at home to, first Jersey Bulls followed by a high flying, unbeaten Badshot Lea. This will be the 6th game for Sheerwater in the month of October - bearing in mind this is the fourth weekend of the month. The Sheers' focus will firmly be on the pitch, having recorded just two draws; a 1-1 draw at home to Alton followed by a much improved goalless stalemate at Hampshire side Fleet Town. A tale of sharp shooting, clinical finishing and late defensive errors have proven to be areas requiring improvement in Sheerwater's game, but we must focus on the context of a developing, fresh faced squad and our own progress off-the-pitch.

A well invested Farnham Town sit in 9th position in the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties League Premier Division South while Sheerwater are gradually making strides of improvement, on the pitch. Every game is crucial over the next couple of months; Sheerwater are second bottom in the Combined Counties League Prem South, with the points total difference gradually growing between them and the teams immediately above, which are, at the time of writing: Horley Town, Alton, Frimley Green and Fleet.

LAST SEASON

Our Surrey counterparts Farnham concluded last season with a mid table finish, 10th in the 20 team Combined Counties League Premier South. For context, the league saw Beckenham Town be crowned champions with a points total of 92 compared to Farnham recording exactly half that, with 46 points. Last season, Sheerwater - then with a completely different squad and football management team - finished one place above in 9th, seven points above Farnham.

The last time the two teams faced each other competitively came in February 2022, which saw Sheerwater come out on top in a 2-1 win. Though not a single player from that matchday squad will play in this afternoon's affair. In October 2021, Farnham made the trip to the Eastwood Centre in what turned out to be a five-goal thriller, but again Sheerwater recorded the three points, from a 3-2 win.
